A Roof Over Their Heads

Most Australian chickens bred for meat are raised in large, well ventilated, well-lit barns specifically designed to protect the health and welfare of flocks.

Australian meat chickens are never kept in cages. Their homes are state-of-the-art and - unlike backyard chook pens – designed to be predator-free.

Australian chickens have continuous access to water and high quality feed and their diets are nutritious and well balanced.

Regular inspections of flocks enable farmers to see any unwell or injured birds and treat them or humanely put them down.

Growers are well-trained to recognise disease or distress. They take pride in their stockmanship and ability to bring healthy, well-raised birds to market.
