This video gives you a glimpse of what it is like in a modern commercial chicken shed. No meat chicken is ever raised in cages. The conventional farming method is illustrated in this film clip. Chickens are kept in large barns where they live on a layer of bedding material spread out on the floor (e.g. saw dust, wood chips, rice hulls). Free-range chickens are kept in the same type of sheds when they are young and at night, but have access to the outside during the day.
