Import Risk Analysis (IRA) for Chicken Meat
In January 2009, the process of the generic chicken meat Import Risk Analysis (IRA) undertaken by the Australian Government's Biosecurity Australia, has come to its final conclusion. The Draft Final Report was issued on 31 October 2008 (it is available at http://www.daff.gov.au/ba/ira/current-animal/chicken-meat ).
On 15 January 2009, IRA Appeals Panel advised appellants that all appeal claims have been disallowed. Details of the claims and IRAAP's reasons for disallowing the claims can be read in the official record of the proceedings.
This now means that the Draft Final Report becomes the Final Report and the the Director of Animal and Plant Quarantine will now issue the import protocol for chicken meat in accordance with the IRA Final Report.
