Consumption

Nearly 70 per cent of Australian households serve chicken meat at least twice per week. In 2022/23, the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences (ABARES) estimates that Australians increased consumption to 50.1 kg of chicken meat on average each. This represents nearly half of all meat consumed!

While data for Israel and New Zealand is not available on the USDA FAS database, these countries would make it into the top 10 chicken-consuming nations list. Latest available data from PIANZ reports per capita consumption of chicken meat in New Zealand as 41 kgs.

The latest available data from the OECD  states total poultry meat per capita consumption in Israel is 68.7 kg (assumed to be 75% chicken meat).
